Introduction

The Department of Pharmacology is the premier department of Appasaheb Birnale College of pharmacy Sangli, started with the inception of the institute and having well experience, dedicated and committed faculty members.

With the growth of institute, department is expanded to impart undergraduate, postgraduate and other courses such as Ph.D.

At the outset, the Pharmacology department of A.B.C.P. has two unique domains. They are academics and research, providing facility of learning and training to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Further the department is associated with CPCSEA approved animal house.

Academic aspect is that, every year it imbibes around 10 M. Pharm students, 100 B.Pharm students along with Ph. D. scholars. The PG and Ph.D. scholars are actively involved in research in well equipped laboratories of the department.

Faculty actively encourages to do research projects funded by different agencies which enables them to have research publication and makes them eligible for future international and national research and other academic opportunity. Therefore in addition to guiding students, faculty pursued their own research projects, funded by Shivani University Kolhapur, University Grant Commision and All India Council for Technical Education under the schemes of RPS, MODROB etc.

Research in the department covers a broad spectrum of interests and areas that have been given priority in the department include oncology, CNS, inflammation, CVS, tuberculosis, Immunology, diabetes, nephropathy , heaptoprotective, aphrodisiac, drug Assays, toxicological studies, ethnomedicinal approach for drug discovery and development.
